Cody Snow and Lane Mitchell were second in 4.2 for $2,632.50, moving Mitchell up two spots to No. 11 at $110,741 and holding Snow at No. 10 with $113,444. Brown and Koch were third in 4.9 for $1,755, and their 9.3 on two head led the set into the semifinal; Brown stays No. 26 at $81,150 and Koch moves to No. 32 at $71,448. Clint Summers and Jade Corkill were fourth in 5.0 for $877.50 — more importantly, their 9.8 on two advanced them. Summers moved to No. 14 at $102,907; Corkill stayed No. 17 with the same money. Arviso and Lord advanced fourth at 9.9. Snow and Mitchell were the last team in at 10.2.
The Grahams and Rahlmann and Medlin did not make the top four and are finished in Puyallup. Set 2’s matinee went to Lightning Aguilera and Kaden Profili in 4.4 for $3,510 a man, holding them at No. 4 and No. 5 with $137,321 and $128,697. Dustin Egusquiza and JC Flake were second in 4.5 for $2,632.50, keeping Egusquiza at No. 11 and moving Flake to No. 12, both at $110,333. Ketch Kelton and Denton Dunning were third in 4.9 for $1,755, which moved Kelton past Summers to No. 14 at $104,307 and Dunning to No. 9 at $113,162. Kaleb Driggers and Junior Nogueira were fourth in 5.3 for $877.50, taking the standings leaders to $185,613 each.
Saturday night’s round went to Tanner Tomlinson and Wesley Thorp with a 3.3 (a new arena record) for $3,510 a man, but a miss in the matinee left them without an average and out of Sunday. The check moves Thorp from No. 20 to No. 19 at $98,599, $52 ahead of Jonathan Torres; Tomlinson goes to $136,707 and stays No. 5.
Driggers and Nogueira lead the Set 2 average at 11.4 on two head. Kelton and Dunning are second at 11.7. Garrett Tonozzi and Trey Yates are third at 14.4 — Yates, who won Fort Madison, Iowa, with Riley Kittle on Saturday, is No. 13 at $110,179 before that check posts. Egusquiza and Flake are fourth at 15.1. Aguilera and Profili missed in Round 2 and will not advance. Trent Vaught and Cash Duty also missed, ending Vaught’s Puyallup at No. 18 with $98,995.
Leading the semifinals pack is Garrett Tonozzi and Trey Yates with a 5.3, solidifying their spot to both the finals and the Governor’s Cup at the end of the month. Following that team is Driggers and Nogueira, Arviso and Lord, and Brown and Koch.
Driggers and Nogueira and Arviso and Lord split first and second at $12,225 each. Driggers and Nogueira to $197,838. Arviso to $140,165—past Aguilera and Tomlinson to No. 4 header. Lord moved to $141,350, No. 4 heeler.

Puyallup is two rounds, back-to-back, performance to performance. There will be two “sets” or “sections,” both comprised of 12 teams. Following the long rounds will be a top eight Semifinals, followed by a top four Finals.
The top four teams based on the average from each of the two sets will advance to the Semifinals on Sunday, Sept. 13. The top four teams from the Semifinals will advance to the Finals.

The Cinch Playoff Series in Puyallup has a purse of $77,000 on each side in the team roping. If a team were to win both performances in their set and the finals, they could walk away with $20,920 a man.

How does the PRCA Playoff Series work?
Standings are kept throughout the season and there is a championship event at the end of the year. Contestants competed at rodeos such as Odessa, San Antonio and Salinas–just to name a few–to earn points.
Points are distributed to contestants who place in the top 20 at each of the designated PRCA Playoff Series Rodeos, based on the fastest time. For rodeos with multiple rounds, the points are calculated based on the average. Tournament rodeos are more complicated, but points are assigned based on how far each competitor advanced through the tournament.
The Top 23 in the standings, plus the NFR Open team roping champs, then compete in Puyallup at the Cinch Playoff Series. The Top 8 teams from the PRCA Playoff Series year-end standings and the Top 4 from Puyallup will earn a position into The Governor’s Cup.
The cutoff for Puyallup was Aug. 24, and the Sioux Falls cutoff is Sept. 21. These are the final Playoff Series rodeos:
- Lewiston, Idaho – Lewiston, Roundup – Sept. 10-12
- Pendleton, Oregon – Pendleton Round-Up – Sept. 16-19
- Mandan, North Dakota – Rough Rider Cup – Sept. 18-20
The Governor’s Cup takes place Sept. 25-27, and offers a payout across eight events of over $1 million. In the team roping, there is a purse of $166,667 per side.
Why does the PRCA Playoff Series matter??? Here’s the answer.
The close of the PRCA regular season is Sept. 30. That means that the following payouts, along with the PRCA stand-alone team roping jackpot happening the last day of the season in Stephenville, Texas, will hit during the final days of the season and it will be the deciding factor on who makes the National Finals Rodeo in December.
