Rope horses with the distinctive HR brand (for Harrison Ranch) are making waves in the roping pen, thanks to HR Smart Rey.
The stallion went to the AQHA World Show six times at both ends with several top-10 finishes. He racked up a world championship in Level 2 Amateur Heading, reserve world championships in Level 2 Senior Tie Down Roping and Level 2 Amateur Heading and a Bronze in Amateur Heading.
His offspring are also winners—from Smart Josie Rey to Smart Scottish Guy, who at 5 years old last season won the 15.5 for $4,110 under Derrick Jantzen at Royal Crown Guthrie, as well as the 9.5 Big Money under Tyler Wagnon at Guthrie’s World Cup.
Meanwhile, HR Barney Rey won the 9.5 Over-50 at the World Cup to bring his lifetime roping earnings to more than $93,000, and HR Oscar Rey won the 2022 AQHA world championship in Amateur Select Heading and was a finalist again at the 2025 World Show.
