Cheyenne ran its barrel racing on a WPRA Playoff Series bracket in 2026. Seventy-two invited racers went through six first-round performances July 17–22 and three semifinals July 23–25 before the 12-woman final on July 26, for a share of $100,000 in added money.

His sire, Lucky Wonder Horse, is by First Down Dash out of Rosas Cantina CC — the mare Lisa Lockhart rode in the same final. At five, he was the youngest horse in the field.
Heidi Gunderson’s Wonder If Im Lucky is by Lucky Wonder Horse, a 2015 buckskin stallion by First Down Dash. Lucky Wonder Horse’s dam is Rosas Cantina CC, the 2010 buckskin mare Lisa Lockhart rode in the same 12-horse final. Two generations of the same family made Championship Sunday in the same year, under different riders.
The family runs wider than that. Rosas Cantina CC is out of Dash Ta Vanila, by Dash Ta Fame and out of SX Frenchmans Vanila. Jana Bean’s Flashin Bills is out of a mare by Born Ta Be Famous, who is also by Dash Ta Fame and out of SX Frenchmans Vanila, making him a full brother to Dash Ta Vanila. Three of the 12 finalists trace to that one Frenchmans Guy mare.
Dash Ta Fame: eight of 12
Dash Ta Fame sired two finalists outright, Dash Ta Fame Bardell and the winner KN Fames Best Yet. He is the damsire of Rosas Cantina CC, Awesome Arlo and Rapidfire Daisy, the sire of Waylon J’s sire Conn Creek, and appears in the third generation of Justa DTF Frenchman and Flashin Bills. Eight of the 12 pedigrees carry him within three generations.
Frenchmans Guy and Sun Frost
Frenchmans Guy shows up in Rosas Cantina CC, Justa DTF Frenchman, KN Fames Best Yet and twice in Flashin Bills. His sire Sun Frost also reaches Wonder If Im Lucky through the dam’s sire PC Mr Sun Peppy.
Fire Water Flit, twice
Fire Water Flit, foaled in 1978, is the sire of Rapidfire Daisy and the dam’s sire of Epic Leader, who sired Assuredly Epic. He is the oldest sire represented in the field.
The outlier
Three of the 12 carry neither Dash Ta Fame nor First Down Dash within three generations: Florari, TR Judges Doll and Assuredly Epic. TR Judges Doll runs to Dash For Cash through Judge Cash, and Assuredly Epic to Special Effort and Fire Water Flit. Florari is the one true outlier, sired by the cutting stallion Metallic Cat and out of a Dr Nick Bar mare.
