Cheyenne Viva Cashes In With Blazing 14.988 to Sweep 12 & Under, 15 & Under Barrel Racing Semifinal Wins at Patriot

Ten-year-old Cheyenne Viva capitalized on a single standout run to sweep both the 12 & Under and 15 & Under Barrel Racing Semifinals at the 2026 Patriot in Fort Worth, clocking a 14.988 aboard Flomoney to earn a combined $9,600 and secure multiple spots in the finals.

With more than 1,700 runs already recorded across multiple races, Viva’s sub-15-second effort held as the fastest time seen at the 2026 Patriot. Taking advantage of the event’s roll-over format, she first topped the 12 & Under field for $3,800, then carried the same time over to dominate the 15 & Under division for another $5,800.

“I knew I had to be a little fast to make it back,” Viva said.

Her approach reflected maturity beyond her years. Viva let the eight-year-old gelding rate naturally into the first barrel before driving aggressively across the pen. Flomoney stayed square through the second barrel and powered out of the third with enough run to separate the pair from a tightly bunched leaderboard.

The gelding, purchased from Fallon Taylor, is by Filthy Fast N French and out of the legendary Flos Heiress, and did his job of taking care of Viva during the run.

“He always takes care of me,” Viva said.

The Georgia cowgirl credited consistent practice and strong mentorship for her progress, noting support from family and fellow competitors along the way. Already qualified for larger stages later in the year, she used the Patriot semifinals as both a proving ground and a momentum builder.

By turning one run into two semifinal wins, Viva not only doubled her earnings but also positioned herself as a legitimate threat heading into the finals. With multiple championship opportunities still ahead, her combination of horsepower, timing and confidence makes her one of the most dangerous young barrel racers left in the field.
