Reined Cow Horse Futurity Hopefuls We’re Watching

With two NRCHA-sanctioned futurities in the books—the NSHA Futurity in Las Vegas and the SRCHA Pre-Futurity in Fort Worth—a few 3-year-olds are beginning to emerge as strong contenders for the remaining slate of futurity shows, including the NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity.

With SRCHA and NSHA results in hand, The Performance Report compared individual point spreads and highlighted nine horses knocking on the door of champion-level composite scores.

Grabbing Headlines: RBS Anniesugardaddy and Clayton Edsall win Second Futurity Title

RBS Anniesugardaddy has already put together an impressive resume, winning both the SRCHA and NSHA Pre-Futurities with trainer Clayton Edsall in the saddle. The gelding is owned by Monty “Paul” and Carlee Miller, and bred by the Rocking BS Ranch.

At the NSHA Pre-Futurity, RBS Anniesugardaddy posted a 220.5 in the herd work, 219.5 in the reining, and a 221 on the cow for a 661 composite. The effort came with $38,784 in winnings, pushing the geldings’ lifetime earnings to $59,591.

Consistency Kings and Queens

These aren’t necessarily the highest scorers, they’re the ones that displayed the tightest grouping of scores across all three legs at the pre-futurities. And while a big score in one event can pull a duo higher up the composite results, consistency is welcomed, especially when developing futurity horses.
