Reining: 100X Reining Classic Wraps in Tulsa
Tulsa, Oklahoma | August 29–September 6 | Tulsa Expo Square
Cade McCutcheon and Twohundreddegrees (DFS Group) topped the 100X Invitational Open Level 4 at 223½ for $75,000, the richest check handed out all week. McCutcheon banked a second paycheck too, tying for second aboard Midnight Crush (Bosque Ranch Performance Horses LLC) at 223 alongside Casey L. Deary and Markedfourgreatness (Amy Liske), each earning $37,799.
Andrea Fappani rode two different horses to a share of the Open Derby and companion NARS Open Derby championship, tying OO7 (Sandy Vargo) and Shining Guns N Roses (23 Quarter Horses SRL) at 226½ apiece, worth $15,189.03 each in the Open Derby and $24,853.49 each in the NARS Open Derby. Erik Caddeo and Frankey Blue Eyes (Wright Reining LLC) finished third at 225½.
Fappani banked the week’s second-richest check in the 100X Open 4-Year-Old Stakes finals, riding Best Is Yet Too Come (Tim J. Anderson, Clark Reining Horses LLC) to a 232 and $62,207.87 in Level 4. Craig C. Schmersal and Slide Action (Diamond Creek Ranch) finished second at 230 for $37,865.66, and Cade McCutcheon and Noize Complaint (Bosque Ranch) were third at 229½ for $28,399.25.

On the Non Pro side, Lane Colston and Dust (Kevin M. Colston) swept the Non Pro Futurity, Invitational Non Pro Futurity and NARS Non Pro Futurity Level 4 titles with a 222, and Mandy McCutcheon and Cromedblack Gun MIL (Tom & Mandy McCutcheon) topped both the Non Pro Derby and NARS Non Pro Derby at 225.

Clemerson Gomes Barbalho and Takincareofbizzzness (Mary K. Cachat) doubled up down the levels, also winning both Level 3 ($45,000) and Level 2 ($25,000) aboard the same horse. Kaleb Nicholson and Girl Cant Help It (Unhitched Partners) topped Level 1 for $10,000.

Reined Cow Horse: SDRCHA Road to Texas
Rapid City, South Dakota | September 2–7 | James Kjerstad Event Center, Central States Fairgrounds
Matt Koch’s name repeatedly topped the SDRCHA’s Road to Texas results. Koch and SJR DiamondRendezvou (San Juan Ranch) topped the Open Futurity at 437.50 for $2,169.50, then doubled that up with the Stallion Stakes Open Futurity title on the same horse for another $1,800.54.
In the new Bridle Spectacular, added this year with an extra $11,000 sponsored by Donna Maston, Ryan P. Gallentine and One Ata Time (Steven M. Mattson) topped the Open division at 437.50 for $2,398.20, and Kristy Kay Miller rode her own Glamour Royallty to the Non Pro Spectacular title at 437.50 for $885.15.

The Reno Snaffle Bit Futurity hits its 10-year anniversary under current ownership. Reno, Nevada has a deep history with reined cow horse, hosting the majority of Snaffle Bit Futurities since the 1970s before the NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity relocated to Fort Worth in 2017. The Reno Snaffle Bit Futurity now carries the cow horse sport forward with its own annual event at the Reno Sparks Livestock Center.
Ranch Events, Reining: All American Quarter Horse Congress

The Congress runs its full slate of AQHA, NRHA and NCHA-sanctioned classes over four weeks at the Ohio Expo Center—the largest single-breed horse show in the world.
