Corey Cushing of Weatherford, Texas, made it two in a row at the 2026 AQHA Ranch Horse Classic on Nov. 6 at the AQHA World Championship Show in Oklahoma City. Cushing rode Supreystitious, a 2021 gelding by Stevie Rey Von out of Duallicious, to the championship and collected the $33,000 winner’s check for owner Dan Fox of Weatherford, Texas.

“I’m just very blessed because of all the great people and great horses around me,” Cushing said. “I’m getting all these opportunities, and all for where the horse takes us and the highs and the lows. Pretty fun past couple weeks.”

The win capped a big fall for Cushing. In October, he earned his fifth NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Open championship aboard Candy Shopp (Smooth Talkin Style x Shiney Nickel) with a 665 composite score at Fort Worth’s Will Rogers Coliseum. A year ago, he came to the Ranch Horse Classic as the Snaffle Bit Futurity reserve champion and went home with the classic title after sweeping all three phases on Tuff Tobe Woody (Woody Be Tuff x Katies Kitty). This year he claimed both championships.

Cushing and Supreystitious worked as draw three in the ranch riding and ranch trail and went back in as the fifth draw in the cow work. The pair finished with 120 points overall across all phases, 15 points ahead of the reserve champion.

“That horse has just got so many great qualities,” Cushing said. “For one, he’s really pretty just to look at. You want to watch him. Two, he’s really good with his ears. He likes doing a job, and so the ranch horse stuff has been ideal for him.”

How the Ranch Horse Classic Works

The Ranch Horse Classic is open to horses 3- to 5-years-old and limited to 20 entries, and one rider must show the same horse through every phase. The class opens with ranch riding, which rewards comfortable, ground-covering gaits, and ranch trail, which tests a horse’s disposition and its ability to handle obstacles and everyday ranch tasks. The finale is ranch cow work, where exhibitors show their horse’s cow sense and can choose to rope or circle their cow. An estimated $75,000 in prize money was up for grabs in 2026.

“When that cow first come out and started running him across there, he was really good and really sharp,” Cushing said. “These horses, they got to be on your team when you step in there. When he felt the way he did, which was great, and just locked in, he was outstanding on that cow.”
