One of the industry’s fastest up-and-coming sires, Shawne Streakin Jet, had earned more than $113,000 in two events as of last fall. The bay roan stallion won the 2021 Royal Crown Breakaway Futurity as a 6-year-old and more recently placed at the Lubbock, Texas, pro rodeo in barrel racing with Ceri Ward at the reins.
It takes a fast athlete to clock a 17.0-second run like he did last fall at the Pink Buckle, and the pair qualified to run at the Central Regional Finals this year in hopes of an American Semi-Finals berth.
The 11-year-old stud takes after his sire, $10 million producer A Streak Of Fling, that was both a roping and barrel horse. “Streaker” was purchased as a colt by former NFR tie-down roper Brian Fulton, who had the stud knot-roping down the wall in eight weeks.
It’s safe to say Shawne Streakin Jet will produce horses with both color and talent. His sire, Streaker, also produced Jake Clay’s Head Horse of the BFI (Streakin Sun Dew), Garrett Tonozzi’s roan two-time WCRA Champion head horse (Streakin Disco), and Oz Ona Hot Streak that won the first Calgary Stampede team roping with Ross Ashford.
