Bradley Jackson, of Angleton, Texas, and Randy Weaver, of Montgomery, Texas, turned a long week into a win, roping four steers in 32.89 seconds to claim the #10.5 Legends Over 40 title at the 2026 Cinch National Finals of Team Roping.
“To be honest with you, I was roping terrible,” Jackson said. “When I got up this morning, you know, I do believe in the Good Lord, but I decided I’m changing my boots, and I prayed about it, hoping for a better day.”
That better day came together.
Sitting second callback heading into the short round, both ropers leaned into their faith.
“I also have been struggling all week,” Weaver said. “But once it started looking good, my wife called, and we sat and prayed together.”
Jackson felt the pressure building before the final run.
“I’ll tell you what, I was nervous,” Jackson said. “I wasn’t nervous in the box, but I was nervous before that short round. I had to go walk around a bit.”
The partnership runs deeper than just roping.
Weaver is a pastor at Lone Star Cowboy Church in Montgomery, where Jackson has been attending for more than 12 years. The two have spent plenty of time roping together at the church’s covered arena.
“We met through the church,” Jackson said. “I have a lot of good friends that go, and we found each other that way. There’s a covered arena at the church, and Randy and I have been roping there together for a while.”
“Bradley is a good friend, and we have done pretty well roping together too,” Weaver said. “But this is the biggest win we have had together, that’s for sure.”
The pair took home $29,400, along with Gist Silversmiths trophy buckles, Resistol hats and Horse Power Boots.
For Weaver, the win carries a deeper meaning.
“Honestly, we come here to represent Him more than we come to rope.
