Houston Childers locked up the 2026 Junior Resistol year-end title with 100 points, turning a breakout season highlighted by $35,000 in Jacksonville, Florida, and $6,500 in Perry, Georgia, into the biggest win of his young career.
The 17-year-old Childers—whose mom, Holly, won the Cinch Ladies USTRC standings—took advantage of the momentum he built prior to the Cinch USTRC National Finals to take the win.
“I feel like I roped the best I ever have,” Childers said.
For Childers, who also loves to hunt when he isn’t in the practice pen—it was about putting himself in position and capitalizing when it counted. That foundation was built close to home, where he credits much of his success to the people around him.
“I really want to thank my mom and dad,” he said. “They’ve always made sure I had something to win on.”
“I guess now that I think about it, it’s pretty special,” Childers added about winning the year-end titles alongside his mom. “Mom and I, we practice pretty much every day… so to see her win that, that’s really cool.”
This year, the Fairmount, Georgia, native saw wins in at the Florida Championship Super Qualifier; South Alabama Champions—where he took home 27 points across three ropings; and placed at the #13.5 Shootout at the USTRC Finals to seal the deal.
