With $2 million up for grabs at the 2026 American Rodeo, the lineup of team roping head horses is stout.
When The American Rodeo kicks off in Arlington, Texas’s Globe Life Field Friday, May 22, with the Semifinals, we will likely see former 2019 The American champion head horse Heisman with Coleman Proctor, as well as Clint Summers on WSR Hesa Alive—the horse Kaleb Driggers won the event on in 2023.
The field is diverse from a pedigree standpoint, with no sire appearing twice across the entire lineup. Playgun is the only bloodline to bridge two columns. It appears directly as the sire of Proctor’s horse, and surfaces again as the grandsire of Coy Rahlmann’s DH Playguns Wave through the dam Playguns Rosebud.
Luke Brown’s DM Jet Off, aka “Buddha,” will also be ridden by two former American champs: Brown and Chad Masters.
