The 70 Ranch in Gainesville, Texas, was launched with an emphasis on speed and disposition to produce outstanding performance horses.

The band of mares includes four actual NFR-qualifying mares (one by Sun Frost), plus daughters of Peptoboonsmal, Shining Spark and High Brow Cat, along with a Dual Pep daughter out of High Brow Cat’s dam that produced $350,000 in progeny earnings.

And for stallions, the ranch has assembled a handful of big-time winners in the arena, including NFR barrel racing qualifiers Feel The Sting (LTE $139,713) and SR Industry Titan ($390,000-plus), as well as the late $2.4 million sire Shawne Bug Leo and two sons of $54 million sire Metallic Cat.

SR Industry Titan stands 15 hands with impeccable conformation and offers a great way to get speed without adding too much height. The stout sorrel broke arena records with Brittany Pozzi-Tonozzi at the reins. Meanwhile, Feel The Sting is a 15-hand, $2.3 million sire by the ultra-fast Dash Ta Fame out of nine-time NFR barrel racing mare MP Meter My Hay (“Stingray”)—on which Sherry Cervi earned about $1.1 million. Feel The Sting’s quickness and agility were evident when two of his 5-year-olds won first and second in Junior Barrel Racing at the ’25 AQHA World Show.

Meanwhile, Metallic Malice is a bay roan cutting and cow horse performer with a quiet demeanor that stands 15 hands and has the incredible mind, size and ability of Metallic Cat. Plus, he’s homozygous to guarantee a roan color every time. In February 2025, 4-year-old Malicious Dual by Metallic Malice placed at the ARHFA’s Sun Circuit and Royal Crown 4-year-old heeling futurities.

The ranch also offers One Shiney Metallic, an 11-year-old palomino roan by Metallic Cat out of the buckskin mare One Shiney Rey by Dual Rey. His progeny are eligible to compete for Riata, Royal Crown and Gold Buckle futurity dollars.

And 70 Ranch continues to offer the semen of the late, great Shawne Bug Leo that sired two NFR qualifiers and won a circuit finals rodeo in barrel racing at 22.

Shawne Bug Leo sired progeny that have earned over $2.4 million to date in barrel racing alone. Last fall, his 11-year-old son Cajun Chrome (LTE $132,302) won the Columbia River Circuit Finals reserve barrel racing championship and his 10-year-old son Al Cappone (LTE $76,189) won the Mountain States Circuit Finals reserve championship.

“More than his statistics, Shawne Bug Leo was known for his strength, his good mind and his unmistakably kind eyes that reflected both his soul and his wisdom,” posted 70 Ranch following his 2025 death. “Shawne Bug Leo was the kind of horse whose presence filled every space—quiet yet commanding, powerful yet gentle.”
